~firewire is DV. Edward is right in suggesting you ditch USB
~USB is proc-dependent. 1394 is not.
~USB may not be DV (and from your other post, isn’t).

Hit the “B” key. This is a common “oops.” Sometimes when hitting the Space bar, the “B” key gets hit too, opening the Master Audio Track

There are no plugins, add-ins, or other tools for Architect.
Vegas can make these exact same slideshows, easily and quickly with a tool like Ultimate S or StillMotion, and adding other FX, color correction/distortion, etc is very fast.Douglas Spotted Eagle

DVD Architect is a DVD authoring app, not an editor. FX an such are found in an editor.

Interesting question, and I’m fairly sure the answer is “Yes.”
I’ve had the capture window open capturing video while I had a second instance of Vegas open using an Indigo sound card to capture audio, so not having the exact gear with which to achieve this, I’d be reluctant to say “Absolutely, go for it.”
But I’m inclined to believe it will work, based on past experiences, *IF* you have two 1394 cards.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Pretty well all of them, IMO.
Canon has a couple of palm-corders, as does Sony. I have about 10 of the smaller Sony’s, and use them rigorously and religiously. They’re small tanks. I don’t use the Canon due to their image stabilization system.
Sony V1’s can be had used for around 2K as well, so can the FX1.Douglas Spotted Eagle

You’ll need a second firewire card if you want to capture a live stream of HDV.
You could *try* to capture with a BMD Intensity, but I’m almost certain it would fail, with the Presonus also running, even on a desktop, let alone a laptop.
Uncompressed and laptops, plus 8 channels of incoming audio would be a challenge for even the mightiest CPU’s on a laptp.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Yup, Vegas 7 manages the EX1 .mxf files just fine. There is a brief tutorial on the VASST site about using the EX with Vegas, and it’s the same workflow for Vegas 7/8.
At the risk of pushing a product, it’s also included in my Vegas Pro 8 Editing Workshop book.

Vegas Platinum does not open the converted .mxf files.
