Sony EX1 support in Vegas Movie Studio Platinum?
Does VMS Platinum support Sony EX1 Files?
I am hoping to have access to an EX1 soon and would like to edit with my existing set up. Specifically, I want to edit using the EX1’s “HQ” output. I have tried downloading raw EX1 media files to edit, but they don’e seem to be recognized by Vegas Platinum.

Vegas Platinum does not open the converted .mxf files.

Will Vegas 7 support the EX1 file structure? I have been hoping to purchase one of these cameras soon and was wondering if I need to upgrade the software as well.

Yup, Vegas 7 manages the EX1 .mxf files just fine. There is a brief tutorial on the VASST site about using the EX with Vegas, and it’s the same workflow for Vegas 7/8.
At the risk of pushing a product, it’s also included in my Vegas Pro 8 Editing Workshop book.

DSE…Thank you for answering my question. Of course, you are right; it is asking a little much for VMS Platinum to support the EX1’s codec.
On the other hand, having a camera with the power of the EX1 at its price point is just as hard to imagine. I admire the Sony engineers and managers who took a risk in pushing the envelope and showing such market leadership. It could not have been easy to move this product through Sony.
