If you have a dual monitor system, the vid will display full on secondary monitor. If you have a single monitor, it will take over your single monitor. ESC will restore view to Vegas interface

K, we’ll approach this differently?
Why would you shoot 50i with the Z1 for delivery in the USA? (I would, for 24p delivery, BTW)
If you shoot in any variant of 60i with this camcorder ie; CF24, CF30, or straight 60i, the MSeries decks will properly play it back.
Template? As mentioned previously, use the HDV template for the framerate at which you shot the footage. ie; HDV 1440 x 1080/60i for 60i footage, 1440 x 1080/p30 for 30p footage. With the Z1, I highly recommend you not shoot at CF24.

You’ll get better results using a screen cap application running at the same time as you run the PPT slides.
The DV version is very low resolution compared to the original display resolution, and more importantly, they’re heavily compressed, so you’ve lost a lot of information as a result.
If the slides didn’t have animations, then I’d recommend simply exporting the PPT as a series of PNGs, but of course, that means you have to hand-animate using transitions in Vegas. Not fun if you have many animations in the show.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Vegas exports as AAF, and Premiere, Canopus Edius both work well for cuts-only. Last time I tried this with FCP, it didn’t work out so well, and it’s been a long while since I’ve played with it. FCP doesn’t do AAF like other kids in the sandbox (then again, it doesn’t do most things like other kids in the sandbox either.

Never tif in Vegas. PNG or TGA sequences are best.
If you’re not seeing the transparency/alpha in Vegas, you clearly already know how to right click and get to the various modes. You’re sure you’re exporting a 32 bit file from AE? Uncompressed doesn’t necessarily mean it’s 32bit.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Nothing to watch for. Just capture. Then open a Vegas 30p HD project template using the HDV presets, done.

png works, but psd’s do too. Simply right click, go to Properties, and set the alpha type in the Properties menu. then click the small floppy icon in the middle of the Properties menu to set it to remember this format

No, it’s not true. There are those that don’t understand how to properly setup a project and output it. *if* you output 4:3 from the widescreen, you may find yourself less than happy with the resample, but there are ways around that tiger, too. Extremely happy with the EX1 camcorders, we have four now, and of course use them in Vegas.
