First off, you might want to download 8c.
Additionally, if you’ve got a bottleneck for the three cams, such as a USB-based external drive, that can get you. Or, if you’ve got preview settings at Best/Full, it might be you don’t have enough resource to properly draw.

AVI is not a format you want to be asking people to download, particularly in HD…file sizes are monstrous. I’d recommend either MP4 or WMV if you want to keep file sizes down and keep quality up.
Use the 640 x 480 template DO NOT check the “Stretch to fit” option in the render dialog. I’d use the Apple iPod export dialog for Quicktime, or use the 3Mbps template for WMV. You might get away with 1Mbps in WMV, depending on the content.
For SD DVD, you’ll render to MPEG 2, NTSC widescreen. Tick the “Stretch to fill” option in the render dialog box.You can test render both of these in the Preview in Player option in Vegas, CTRL+SHIFT+M. Just render out a small section and then it will open in QT or WMP

Before specifying a “best render-to” format, it’s helpful to know what you’ll be delivering this format to, or rather, what mechanical device are you using for playback?

You can use generated media or the ProType Titler to do these sorts of graphics, this way they’re not blurry.
Or, save as PNG in Photoshop, they’ll stay crisp regardless.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Some folks like stopping the vid down to 0, I prefer to create a full-rez still and drop it on for the desired length. It also affords some other, easier options for FX, IMO.
If you’re not seeing it slow to 0 from whatever speed, you’ve got something set up incorrectly in your envelope. Right click the node/envelope point to set it to a particular speed.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Are you exporting DV from DS first? If so, that’s likely a huge part of your problem. Can you export in a higher color sample format? Better still, can you use Vegas for your encode from an uncompressed or at least 4:2:2 source out of DS?
Also, ONLY use the DVD Architect templates, never the NTSC templates.
