I’m fortunate to be alive, let alone “walking” with a walker. It’ll be a while before I’m remotely “normal” but I still can breathe and when the meds aren’t too fresh, I’m even able to think somewhat. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers. 3 weeks ago today, I was given a 15% chance of survival. Today I’m comparing myself to the Black Knight in the Holy Grail…”It’s only a flesh wound, come back and fight, you ninny!”

Thanks for the kind and encouraging words, guys. I was out of the ICU after 10 days, then to a “common” hospital room for a few days. I’ve since been released for home therapy/rehab, but am bedridden unless the therapist is here.
Final tally of destruction;
ACL Right knee-gone
MCL Right knee-gone
compression of femoral vein
Cracked hip
Pelvis split neatly in half so now I have large bolts, plates, and screws holding me together
Punctured bladder
Bruised kidney
Broken talus on left ankle
nearly 150 staples holding it all in place.
I’m somewhat mobile with a walker and working towards crutches. Sorry for the absence here lately; didn’t see this one coming. For those that are wondering, it was 100% pilot error, I dropped a control line during a high speed landing and my canopy had not planed out to flat yet. I still could have fixed the problem but was mentally occupied with “I’m gonna die right now” that I didn’t focus on fixing the problem. Amazing how much information the brain can process in 1-2 seconds of time. I’m surprised to be alive, and grateful for all the positive energy and vibes (plus the cards, emails, flowers, etc) sent my way. You guys are the best!Douglas Spotted Eagle

Nice to see the concern for copyright, it’s becoming more, rather than less prevalent in recent months in the video world.
To clarify one point; if you want to digitize your LPs for personal use, it’s legal.
It falls under personal use
It falls under portions of Fair Use
Even if it were prosecutable, it would still fall under DeMinimis.The intent is that you cannot play, nor is it “convenient to play” both copies simultaneously. Digitize your LP to your iPod, put the record on the shelf in a plastic sleeve…you’ve met the restrictions.
Ripping a copy protected CD is a different tale, but most CDs aren’t copy protected.

Apparently Final Cut renders in real time. Why can’t Vegas?

Perhaps you don’t have an MPEG decoder installed on your machine? Perhaps you’re using copyprotected media?
There are a lot of variables here, but what you say points to codecs. What codec did Magic DVD Ripper encode to? If it’s an avi file, then it’s likely not the DV codec. Use a tool like Gspot to find out what codec was used.
Further, if you ripped content from DVD, how did you get source that is 1440 x 1080?Douglas Spotted Eagle

Audio in the various flavors of MPEG 2 video streams is either Mpg 2/layer 1, or PCM audio. neither of these formats are relevant to GOP compression schemes, they’re merely “hooked in” to the GOP stream.
Gapping is caused by loss of system resource (common in audio) lack of system resource, slow decode if it’s a compressed source, or bad drivers.
Try using Windows Classic drivers in your Options/Prefs/audio dialog.Douglas Spotted Eagle

The only thing is, I need to use Picture Motion Browser software to get the video files to the computer, clip and name them and save the cut clips.
Therein lies the answer, I’m nearly 100% positive.
Toss that garbage app from your ‘puter. Copy the raw stream files over from your camcorder, I’ll bet the problem goes away.PMB is terrible. Horrible. Should be illegal. Creates far more problems than it attempts to solve.

You can organize your files in Windows Explorer, using folders for each import session, or using folders for each “location,” etc. If you’ve got 700 clips, that’s probably the best option.
You really need all 700 for a single project? The crash is more likely related to hardware on your ‘puter than Vegas itself.
Then again, I don’t use the import feature on Platinum nor Pro. I just use the Vegas Explorer to preview what’s already on my HDD.Douglas Spotted Eagle

you need to be using square pixels on output, not anything else. Some players cannot read non-square pixels.
Why are you using an odd resolution such as 1440 x 900? do you need to fit a specific window?

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to cross-value percentage and point size. It would be nice for those specified moments, but in broadcast, it’s almost silly to specify a point size without naming font, vs scale size.

You can’t “improve” on the MPEG source, so bear that in mind. You might convert to .mxf format, which is used by XDCAM to contain MPEG.
AVI is just a container. it can be as lossless or lossy as you wish for it to be. Think of it like a paper bag with a description on the outside. Virtually anything (including MPEG) can go in there.Douglas Spotted Eagle
