AVI from one computer to another?
HELP!
I have a HP Pavillion Entertainment PC Laptop that I have always done my editing on with Sony Vegas Pro 8.0c. Always short films, and I was never really tortured by rendering time. Now I’m working on a couple of 95 minute projects that if I render them in a format that is going to end up looking like the original footage (1440 X 1080) I’m looking at 20+ hours to render each project.
My first question is why? Why does Vegas need to take so long? I have friends who use Macs and Final Cut that are laughing at me torturing myself. Apparently Final Cut renders in real time. Why can’t Vegas?
For now I’m stuck with Vegas. So I went out and got a quad processor desktop to MAYBE help speed up the process. I have all of my footage and Vegas files saved on an external hard drive. Some of the footage is from DVDs that I copied using Magic DVD Ripper. On the Laptop everything comes up just fine. On the Desktop, ONLY THE AUDIO COMES UP. No matter what I do, it just shows a generic AVI icon in the folder and in the Vegas project media bin.
Is there some reason why files will work perfectly on one computer in Vegas and not on another in Veags?
Please help!
