Options are:
Sequential TGA (good for short sequences)
Sequential PNG (“)
Export as XDCAM/MXF. From FCP, you’ll need the free Sony plugin for FCP.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Tried repairing the registry with any registry tools that will clean out old garbage? I’d perhaps start there, then reinstall Vegas.

You might search for the .bak file with the last date/time stamp on it.

HDCinema will probably come first, they are pretty good, or used to be.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Content captured from Vegas is a type 2 file. Vegas prefers type 2 files

it’s not a matter of do-or-die, i know i can mux them together afterwards with other tools. but shouldn’t a professional program like sony vegas cater to all needs?
I don’t believe that what you’re asking for is a professional feature. While you’re pointing at Vegas, what you’re asking for can’t be done in Xpri, Vegas, Premiere, any Avid product, Canopus, Final Cut, Speed Razor, AIST, or any other “professional” product.
The delivery you’re looking for doesn’t serve the general public, nor is there any broadcaster in the world that uses such a delivery mechanism.
No NLE wants to be a party to piracy, and the process you’re describing is predominantly a pirate’s process (not suggesting that’s what you’re doing, simply pointing out that it’s common for pirates to use these methods).
In short…no. I don’t believe a professional tool should cater to non-professional, non-common uses or codecs. Another example might be….REAL Networks specifically prohibits the ripping of their REAL streams. No NLE can/will do it. But there are many tools out there that can. But I can think of a lot of professional uses for ripping REAL streams from the web.
Anyway, GordianKnot, AVISynth, and a few other tools can do this, but you’re apparently already of them.Douglas Spotted Eagle
