I’ve not tried encoding adult content, but do know how to optimize for skin tones. 🙂
Truthfully, I had several editors from various adult companies in my sessions at CES, which occurs at the same time as AVN. We chatted about this subject quite a bit in the encoding sessions.

DivX past version 4 is not supported in Vegas. Actually, no version of DivX was supported in Vegas, but up until version 5, it worked.

To expand on Fuddam’s response, the degradation is format-dependent. If you are working with say…DV AVI files, then rendering cuts-only won’t affect the format. If you’re rendering from MPEG, it’s going to be degraded. MPEG to MPEG will lose a lot of information. Try it and see if the amount of loss is acceptable to you.

If you’ve already captured the content, I’m not sure why you’re asking about the input levels.
At -3dB, it is indeed, very hot. Are you looking to overall bring it down prior to encode, or merely wanting to compress it all at playback? For the latter, choose the Speech profile, you might scale back the overall dialog anyway by setting it to -24 vs -27, and choose an RF of speech as well. You’re doing this in Vegas for AC3, not DVD Arch, right?Douglas Spotted Eagle

use Premiere Pro 2 and there’s not any kinda problem like this why with Vegas ? All NLE preview screens have safe area indicators for this very reason. Including Premiere.
In Vegas, generated titles will *always* fit the aspect of the project, but if you mix widescreen title graphics in a 4:3 project, you’ll likely experience some cut off.
If you enable the Safe Areas overlay, you’ll always know where your titles lie.Douglas Spotted Eagle
