we have found going to a DS system 1080i proRes 422 is fine we don’t use HQ for that. Coming back from the DS we need to live capture or hit tape, the file exchange produces gamma issues that are too much trouble to fool with.
In the case of a Media composer you might want to try DNXHD to them.

They will not mess up your FCP system and there is an uninstall with them

depending on your graphics card the scopes in FCS 3 are very close. That should give you an idea of what’s goin on.
check effects>color correction> Broadcast safe filter
Be aware that “everything” legal would include audio levels. often overlooked

you will likely need a mic preamp to get the signal up to line level for the analog inputs on the LHi

Are you going back out to a film print?
I would think you would be best in 10 bit Full space if you are treating the files in some way, DI or VFX
I’m not sure what in fact you are doing other than you have been given dpx from a film scan.
Are these rushes or a finished piece? Are you cutting in video to generate a neg cut on the film or VFX for some existing shots?
What exactly are you doing?
