[Loren Risker] “Make sure to select the drive in finder and select “get info.” There’s a checkbox that says “ignore ownership on this volume.” Try checking that and see if that helps.”
That worked. Thanks!

[Jeremy Garchow] “Disk is full?”
No, It’s a 4 disk, 4TB, Raid 5, with 3TB usable, and I just checked it remotely and it has 426 GB empty space remaining.

I am in almost the same situation. I am currently doing all the editing at my home studio on a 5yr old MacPro. I am considering going to a top of the line MacBook Pro, so I can move work easily between church and home. Though I won’t get the same performance as the MacPro, it will be faster than my current machine, and it will be portable. That’s not to say that you couldn’t move the MacPro far easier than you could legacy machines.
If I was you, I would probably go with either a maxed out iMac or MacBook Pro, if you are sticking to FCPX.

[Lance Bachelder] “No prob – just trying to help. But Bob is completely wrong on this one as he is talking about Drobo SAN products and NOT the 5D.”
After reading his post again and doing more research I realized what you said might be right. I work in a church environment with a lot of 6 camera 720P/1080i multi cam clips. My 5 yr. old MacPro and LaCie Raids are getting old, and I am looking at replacements. Who knows, I may still contact you after the New Year.I will say this though, I have read Bob’s posts and articles for years, and I am a big fan. I also know some people who have worked with Bob personally, and they have the utmost respect for him.
When all is said and done, I would like to have the Pegasus TB 2.0 drives!

Thanks Bob. Coming from you that’s all the information I need. I will look at another vendor. Thanks to the other guys for chiming in. Lance, I’m afraid you’ll have to look for another buyer.

[Bill Davis] “Suffice it to say that my wife just got the call from a client on a nice, juicy 5 figure project that we’ve been working on for seven freekin’ months – saying they’re going with us and are ready to sign the production contracts. So my mood has changed significantly.
“
Congratulations![Bill Davis] “Self-employment is such fun”
Sometimes…….
I prefer being self-employed, but in all honesty, I am looking forward to Jan 1st, when I will start working full time, for my biggest client. Now if I can just talk them into letting me do my editing from my cozy home office!don walker

John,
Do you do any multi cam projects? If so, is the gigabit ethernet storage fast enough to handle a 4 or 5 stream 1080i ProRes clip?

So does this mean that I should stop holding my breath, waiting for 10 Gigabit Ethernet to come standard on a Mac?

Would someone explain what stems are? (I know that in the old days working with 7 and Soundtrack Pro, that the result would be STEMS) but I confess I don’t really know what I’m looking at when I see them.
