Did you get an operations manual with your 2nd hand camera? If not you can get an online manual in PDF format from the various Sony web sites.
First off, I want to be clear that I’m not a Windows user, however there are similarities between platforms.
The firewire port (iLINK HDV/DV) is not for transferring files. It’s only used to record HDV to another device such as an HDV camera or similar. The USB port is the only way to transfer files using the camera.
You need a Windows program to recognize the clips and to work with them. It’s called Clip Browser and you can find it here:
https://support.sonybiz.ca/esupport/Navigation.do?filetype=Software
It’s free and comes with an instruction manual as well as the program. You’ll find the correct software for your application on the page listed above. Look for “XDCAM Browser Ver 2.0 for Win”
And here’s a link to the EX1R operation manual:
https://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/product-PMWEX1R/
If anyone knows of a newer Clip Browser version please add to this thread.
Good Luck

Mr. Palmer’s 1st answer is correct. More recent versions of the XDCAM EX firmware will reduce the time on a 16G card from 57 to 55 min. A 32G SxS card goes from 116 min. to 112.

You can only export using the XDCAM HD codec if you have access to it within the Sony Vegas export settings options. Otherwise you’ll need to find another person who can transcode the file for you after you’ve exported from Vegas using a codec that it DOES have.

What do you hope to accomplish with the use of the SDI connection? If your intention is to use the camera as a deck to transfer files from the SxS cards then you can only do that via the USB port.

Can you modify the SD project settings to set the field order to “none” and specify square pixels as well? I’m not sure if DNxHD allows you to do that but if you have access to any of the old DV NTSC codecs you can. I know you can using the ProRes Proxy codec if you have access to that. DV NTSC format would be closer to the data rate you’ve specified, however.

If you have MC 6 or Symphony 6 the upgrade cost for 6.5 is $499.00. Versions previous to v.6 is $599.00 USD. In Euro dollars that works out to 389.35 (at the moment) if you already have v.6. Miłosz Koziol said they want 500 Euros for the v.6 upgrade where he is.

Okay thank you. You’re quite right. The upgrade cost is rather pricey. I don’t even have my Symphony 6 installed yet because my new computer isn’t going to be here until next week. It’s the cost of doing business I guess. Sill, it’s upsetting to think that I’ll probably have to pay another $1000.00 dollars just for the upgrade. It sounds like the upgrade is worth it though, because the transcoding process within the program is supposed to be quite a bit faster on multi-processor machines, more so than in version 6.0.

Pardon my ignorance but is this a free update if you already have MC6 or Symphony 6?
