If you separate dimensions on one layer, you have to do it on the other layers in order to see the handles. Thanks Touko for the lead.

If you export and certain elements of a 3D comp come out black, it may be that pre-comps have the Draft 3D button on. These are like negatives in math; double negatives look like a positive when you are working but when you go to render or export, the element comes out black.

Additionally, try making the lights of pre-comps or nested comps adjustment layers within the nested comp.

Actually, adjustment layers exported as XML from Premiere to Davinci are a problem. Currently, they are imported into DaVinci as slug!

If anyone knows a good roundtrip method from Premiere to DaVinci and back so that the timelines and sequences conform in each application, please say so!

Leaving color correction for the end is an antiquated workflow. Even with DaVinci, you can do a “one-light” correction remotely, i.e. while the production is underway.

Try opening with Quicktime 7 Pro. That works with .mov that were created w/o the H.264 codecs

I get crash after crash on Premiere CS6.

One thing that reduced the number of crashes was changing the project setting’s Video rendering to the GPU acceleration.

This didn’t solve all the issues; most I found followed changes in video size, position, or even frame holds.

I also will occasionally delete the Preview files, which seems to reduce crashes also, but I can’t say that I’m crash free.

Another technique that I found useful is create a new sequence that is configured to the settings to which you want to export. Copy and paste everything into that new sequence then export

I’ve found if you export not as ‘current settings’ from the ‘export quicktime movie’ dialog box, the issue of green glitches during blank periods in the timeline and/or transitions jumping can be neutralized.

Specifically, I was working with HD footage (1920 x 1080 @ 30fps) and exported via ProRes 1920 x 1080 @ 30fps. I also duplicated the sequence prior to exporting. Sometimes that helps.

Send the FCP clip to Soundtrack Pro then try adding Bitcrusher to degrade the quality, and Distortion, specifically lower the Output, increase the drive, and change the tone.

  • I had black frames at the ends of a few clip after exporting to an uncompressed qt mov. I found that changing the sequence settings to the settings I ultimately wanted then leaving ‘current settings’ upon exportation worked.
