if you can see the image in the Vegas capture utility then you can capture it .. you would use CAPTURE Video but 1st make sure in preference you uncheck “enable dv device control” ..remember to go back and check it when you do need Vegas to control the camera/deck when you transfer from tape.

beeps are only in demo .. once you enter serial # it will stop
-
lets go back a few steps ..
just to be sure –
each computer should have it’s own name ..
you network also needs a name …
make sure the DNS suffix name is the same on each computer..
when you have NRS running on BOTH computers – from your main computer you should see the NAME of the 2nd computer under renderers … from the 2nd computer you should see the name of the main computer.. status should be READY …try to get the HOST to render …do a simple 20 sec avi.render …
do NOT use distribute rendering so only the host will render ..
you are assigning the render job to only the host ( computer you are on) ..for this test you do NOT need to start NRS on the 2nd computer..once you get that working …
next assign a rendering job from HOST computer to the 2nd computer = only the 2nd computer will do the rendering ( do not use distribute rendering) .. there will be a pull down menu to select which computer to assign the rendering job ..
once each computer can render a job by itself .. then go for the distribute rendering ..
if you have problems .. NRS log should tell you something ..
post the log … and also tell us a little about your network ?
as in just 2 computers with cross over R45 cable ? networked thru switch? is there a router somewhere ? -
are you attempting to render a mpeg or ac3 files ?
-
almost thru-put doesn’t make it …

2) 1080i ( and i’ll include 720p here too) is not on the way out sort of .. i’ll bet my $$ on 1080p for future..

January 4, 2006 at 8:01 pm in reply to: Adjusting video clip speed without changing project speedyou would use it for effect ..
i use it to give persons a slight animated motion/feel .. so i’ll set it to pprox 6-8fps ..
also setting to to around 21fps ( vegas will double some fields to equal 30) just give a slight “off feel to subjects … note that if you have properties set to interlace it adds extra fields ( usually not both fields unless you are running a low fps .. if you have it set progressive then it does add frames ( both fields ) -

January 4, 2006 at 3:48 am in reply to: Adjusting video clip speed without changing project speedand you can change the playback rate by right clicking on the video clip ( video track) in Vegas TL – properties then you can use the playback rate and undersample rate ..
undersample is different then playback rate ..
if you undersample 0.50 then the clip will playback at 15fps but it is not slow mo .. it will play everyother frame twice = clips remains same length
where as playback rate at 0.50 will playback in slow mo = it will playback everyframe twice = clip is longer

make sure your computers has a primary ( same) DNS suffix & the workgroup has same name ..
right click MY COMPUTER – properties , network ID , Properties , MORE,
Primary DNS suffix = -
yes as Gary says use 1394 !!!
i have a friend and he had the same problem .. the strange thing was that when he captured using Vegas capture app – after capture he could play back the clip with sound from within the V capture utility but the clip had no audio if he dropped it in V time line .. go back to V capture app and the audio plays ?? so the audio is with the clip but other applications can not see it ???
