24 to 25 or vice versa conversion does NOT involve pulldown. Pulldown in the classical sense is strictly a NTSC feature.
24/25 covnersion is down by slowing down the image and sound.

I cannot confirm, but some have mentioned a gamma shift with DVC Pro HD codec.
Animation is lossless 100%. DVC Pro HD is a lossy compression.
For PC yes, the Avid DNxHD and DVC Pro 25/50 and HD codecs are available for free. Check Avid’s download site.

First you must understand that Avid is not keyboard based. Avid excels when you use keyboard shortcuts. It is much faster. Avid is not a ‘drag and drop’ based application. Yes it can do certain tasks using drag and drop or click and drag, but the majority of its tasks can be accomplished by pressing couple of keyboard strokes.
Your Avid should have came with a basic tutorial. Check it out. It may help you get over the initial hump.

Since the Avid 10 bit codec don’t exist on the Mac world yet – I would use Avid Meridien uncompress. Download the codec from Avid’s site.

DV50 is not supported yet for the Mac. You will need XPro HD for the PC.
