    Hi Steve,
Thanks for the reply. When I try to export the file with VLC it only does 1 or 2 min of an hour clip and then crashes. Those minutes you can open them with QuickTime.
I cannot save them as something else if I cannot open the file.

    Hi,
There are several ways of keeping your data safe. You can look into MaxxDigital, they have great solutions. The Evo2K is an excellent choice for the workflow you are talking about. You can also look into LTO for Backup. Cache-A is a nice appliance, just plug and play, and LTO4 drives can take upto 800GB, LTO5 1.5TB and last more than 30 years.
    Hope this helps.

Try CatDV. You can make markers in CatDV and be seen in FCP or viceversa.

    Hi David,
We have helped many companies with your same issues. Basically is building an automated workflow that can help have all files in the same flavour with just placing them in a selected folder.
Also there is CatDV, an asset manager that can help you file handling for both audio and video, even stills.
Let me know if you need any help.

    Hi,
You try Blufish Epoch or Create Cards. They have a downscaler, 12 bit. Pristine quality.
    Hope it helps.

    Hi Rodrigo,
If you are going to build an Xsan, choose Active Storage, no Promise. That is the first advice. Your setup is not the recomended one, two many clients on any AFP share will compromise the whole system.
We have installed something similar in Televisa Mexico, but did a different way.
Let me know if we can help.
