How can I show markers (specifically edit/cut markers) in an exported clip. I know they exist because they show up in compressor, however I cannot get them to show in fcp when I re-import the clip? any suggestions?

could I export and edl from my source project and have final cut read it to help mark the cut points?

In QT Player Pro go to the properties (cmd-j) and switch the text (chapter) track to visible. The marker names will be displayed above the video.

You even can go further and export the text track as text, add your comments (without changing the timing) and re-import again. You may change the chapter after that as well.

Try CatDV. You can make markers in CatDV and be seen in FCP or viceversa.
