Apple suggests taking a piece of paper and turn the mouse upside down and roll the scroll on it in all directions. This has worked well for us.

The new Mac Pros have a double wide slot for it’s graphic card so you’re not saving any space with the GT 120. Upgrade to the ATI Radeon card it blows the GT 120 out of the water. Apple also offers a higher end Nvidia EVGA GeForce GTX 285 but you have to purchase it from the apple store separately. According to barefeats it tops them all.

I don’t think it applies to this rumor but I thought it interesting of the article that came out in the Wall Street Journal about the secrecy of Apple and how they give some of their employees false code names inorder to find leaks. I’m sure this is how Final Cut Extreme made it’s way into the Cow.

At this time it’s mainly working with IMX 50mb/s video and at most Uncompressed 10bit SD, no HD at this time. I have the 2 volumes separated since my Xserve raid is about 4-5 years old now I don’t want to loose the whole volume if 1 side goes out. AJA system tests run them at about 90MB/s each.

    Thanks for the replys

Hey did you see the video editing feature on the iPhone? Why get a $1500 suite and a $5,000 camera. When you have it all in 1. Ha!

Are you rendering your multicam sequence? That will cause you to see just one clip. You will need to edit your sequence before you render it. Also do you have the Multicam enabled in your RT settings on your sequence? This also will cause you to see just 1 clip. We have been editing 5 camera shoots with Multicam for 3 years now and haven’t seen hardly any bugs since the last update to FCP6. If you are having to render your sequence, your computer or drives may not be fast enough or your footage may not be supported. What’s your setup and what codec are you using?

Yeah my favorite is “why isn’t Uncompressed HD playing right on my iMac?”

Your right, I thought I had read somewhere that it was a variant of H.264, but it’s not.

We have not used Pro Res but have been editing in the IMX 50 codec for the past 4 years and can hardly tell the difference between it and uncompressed. You have to look hard to notice just a little bit more noise compared to Uncompressed 10bit. It’s an HQ Mpeg 2 format which will be easier on your processors than Pro Res which is a variant of H.264. It’s also an I-frame only which means frame to frame no P frames or B frames. Not sure Pro Res is the same, I could be wrong.
