  • Two things come to mind.

if you’re using CUDA, make sure you’re using the current NVIDIA driver for starts. If you use the standard WHQL Win7 driver, then it won’t be optimized.
what source footage are you using? If AVCHD or similar type media, scrubbing can be difficult because of the temporal nature of the codec. looking at your RAID might be a good suggestion. on a similar note, if your RAID is fairly full, consider trying to clear out as much space as possible and optimize it.

    hope this helps.

If you’re rendering the project over the SAN, that is a likely culprit if you don’t have it all set up right. To eliminate that as a possible cause, take the assets from teh SAN and copy them to a local drive or RAID array and try it again. Hopefully, you’ll see a big difference.

yes, there is a way to export a .scc file as well as a few other formats. The primary use of our CC implementation was re-use of captions.

one key piece of information you didn’t provide was how much RAM was in your system. If you like car analogies – The CPUs are the engine and the RAM is the gasoline. You can have 8 cylinders of raw engine, but if you’re giving it a straw to drink gasoline with, it will only go so fast.

That said, 45 minute program in about an hour given that it is a straight transcoding job isn’t horrible. And yes, QT32 could be a problem.

    Eric,

Out of curiosity, can you describe your set up? Assuming you have a 4k monitor to want 4k output, so beyond that wondering what other pieces you use. RED is very CPU intensive short of a RED Rocket cannot playback 4K at full in Premiere Pro. I can get half without a Rocket but that’s on a beefy PC.

    Thanks,
