The lazy susan thing is EXACTLY what I have in mind. But, being the industrious DIY handyman that I am, I’m loving the power drill and potters wheel ideas. Most everything I’ll be setting on it will be less than a pound.
So…..power drill, potters wheel, DIY variable speed motor controller from fry’s, some sort of adhoc belt drive system, and a nice backdrop/mounting case thingy….Should be able to put it all together in a day. Thanks for the help guys!

Animation codec is my choice when coming from AE to FCP.

Not sure what causes it…I’ve seen it done too, it’s like FCP does this randomly.
Go to the distort settings under the motion tab, and adjust it back to the original ratio.

Then add a step to Mark’s solution: Mask or crop the line image that was made in PS, then animate the mask.

i’ve mapped my close gap to “E” so it’s a one button function for me.
With that, if I have multiple gaps, it’s down, e, down, e, down, etc.
very quick.

You could also “nest” the items. This creates a new sequence that contains just the clips you selected (audio & video). You can then drag that sequence and place into another timeline, like any other sequence. If, once on the timeline, you double click it, FCP will open the sequence so you can make adjustments. Remember though, if you change anything, it will affect any other instance where you use the clip/timeline. To add effects and such, highlight the nested sequence on your timeline, hit enter, and it will load into the viewer so you can adjust your effects.

Here’s an idea….do you know the update history of this machine?
If leopard was installed on top of tiger, or if FCS2 was installed on top of FCS1, as opposed to doing a clean install from scratch, that may be the cause of many of your issues.Block out a day, back everything up, and reinstall everything again from scratch. Remember, if your current version of Final Cut (or even the OS) is an upgrade, you can use THAT version to install; you just need the serial # from the previous version.
