I have a project that was shot in DVCPro HD on green screen. We hired an animator to create a virtual set for the project. The offline edits given to our animator were exported from FCP as Apple ProRes (HQ). Our animator composited the virtual set in AE. We now want to import it back into FCP for graphics and multi-version editing.

Please tell me what file format would be best for the animator to give us back so there is no additional compression added. Stay in Pro Res – outputting the files from AE as Apple ProRes.
Or should we import the image sequences in FCP (if possible) as individual frames? Or do we open the image sequence in QT and save as movs then bring it into FCP? What’s best for quality?

    Thanks,

    Cara

Animation codec is my choice when coming from AE to FCP.
