  • Trouble opening a UNIX “VOB” file, importing into FCP. Help!

Posted by Rob Garver on January 5, 2010 at 3:49 am

I was given a DVD containing a film and downloaded it to my desktop. It arrived in two folders — AUDIO TS and VIDEO TS. AUDIO TS was empty, and VIDEO TS has 8 files, one of which is 460 MB – -the film, I believe. It is named “VTS_01_4.VOB,” and says it’s a UNIX file. It will not open in QuickTIme or allow me to import into Final Cut Pro Express. Does any one have any helpful suggestions? Thanks very much! best, Rob.

audio ts being empty is normal.

Run off to the internets and find yourself the most recent version of MPEG Streamclip, and convert away!

    Thank you. Will try.

I am interested in these other “internets” you speak of. I believe only our previous President has access to these. When I first heard Bush say that, I imagined several fishing boats all tangled together.

No, I believe the inventor of the internets also has access…Al Gore. Although, they’re not tangled fishing boats, it’s actually a series of tubes…
