Select the segment with in and out points. Export it out and reimport it back in.
There’s no direct function like Video Mixdown in FCP.

Officially, it’s a PCMCIA card, but please don’t ask me what it actually means.
What it gets you is an extra pathway. If you get a firewire bus card, you get an extra firewire bus. That may help alleviate throughput issues when capturing or outputting to tape. If you go with a SATA bus card, you can connect external SATA drives and can avoid the pitfalls of using firewire drives for media storage altogether.

There’s two ways to do this. You could crop the timecode filter using the crop tools in the motion tab after loading it into the viewer, or actually nest the items and apply the filter to the nest.
You didn’t actually nest the items based on what you posted here. After selecting the items in the timeline, you have to go to Sequence>Nest Items in order to really nest them.
But, try cropping what you have. It’s another way, and it should work.

If you had actually had a fried B-tree, DW may have bought it back. When you need it, it’s invaluable, and having to run out and find it when you’re in the middle of a crisis is a huge drag…

Each has it’s strengths, each has it’s weaknesses.
I use both. I love both, and when I get to choose which platform is right for a specific project, I get the best of both worlds.
And Avid house that hasn’t upgraded in 3 or more years I’d worry about. An Avid house the keeps up shows that they do really good business to be able to keep up. That’s a good sign.

Your sequence settings need to match the settings for the clips you captured.
Double check those, and if that doesn’t solve the problem, post back!

I was always under the impression “going south” was just a euphemism for down the toilet…down for south, up for north. Merely directional and not locational.

I know with Adobe’s Creative Suite CS2 the license says “unbundling is not permitted”. One suite, one computer.
Found that out today, too. Originally I was thinking of putting Photoshop on one computer and Illustrator on another. Tis not an option, however.

I do like the 9×12 when working in photoshop. Cutting mattes is much easier on the large tablet.
You asked for FCP reviews, so I didn’t think of this when I was posting…
If you intend on doing photoshop work, then the 9×12 maybe isn’t overkill!!

I use the Intuos 3 9×12 on my desktop and the 4×5 on my laptop.
The big one is probably overkill, but it was essentially a gift, so I didn’t get to choose. I may have chosen the 6×8.
I don’t use gestures, either. I tried with Motion, but it was a work style my brain wasn’t ready for. Like the others, I use it as a mouse. I am left handed, however. I came of age in the days when you didn’t get to choose which side of the computer you moused from, so I use the mouse with my right hand. For me, it’s more of an augmentation for the mouse than a replacement. I find switching up which hand I use helps with fatigue on both my wrists. If you’re not at least slightly ambidextrous, you might not be able to reap that benefit of using the table with one hand and mousing with the other.
