As Asimov said in “Foundations”, you have to “create a need.”
Make them want it, for whatever reasons (usually aesthetic).
For my own work, there are a couple of reasons to shoot in HD. One is the ability to create clean green screen composites. Very useful in commercial production which is something we’re just starting to do.
For a television show, it future-proofs episodes and makes it possible to rebroadcast them far down the road when HD becomes more widespread.
HD also has the potential of making a show much more marketable. There’s a shortage of good HD content, and being able to fill that demand is a good financial incentive to produce in HD.

Also study fight scenes in Jackie Chan’s “Rush Hour” and Bruce Lee’s “Enter the Dragon”. Hand-to-hand combat in “Gladiator”. Fight scenes in “Lethal Weapon”. They might help provide some ideas on shots and timing.

I grabbed the clips and placed them into the appropriate sequence.
It was a test where I ran the camera for several minutes. The Firestore created three seperate clips just over 2 minutes long. The contents of the Firestore were copied over to a RAID and imported into Final Cut Pro.
I then selected the three clips and dropped them into the sequence timeline. They were in the proper order, butted tightly together, with no gaps.

I just got an FS-100 and when I first dropped 720p60 footage onto a sequence I noticed the black gaps.
However, I’d inadvertently dropped it onto a standard DV-NTSC sequence.
When I created a 720p60 sequence and dropped the same imported clips onto it, the gaps disappeared and played back seamlessly.

Good choreography, creative shooting and good editing is critical in the creation of dramatic fight scenes. All the other effects add to the look but can’t help improve the three fundamentals issues.
What you’re trying to do is develop a great sense of jeapordy and suspense in a very short period of time. That means showing the hero(s) in situations of impending doom. Chase scenes are similar with their near-misses and rapidly developing cliff-hanger situations.
If it’s not turning out the way you want, try doing a re-edit and see if you can adjust the timing so it becomes a stronger fight scene. Hopefully the basic shots are dramatic enough.

I’m using Hitachi drives in a Firmtek external system and had no problems. Also, no problems with OS updates messing up the RAID configuration.
Be sure to get the Hitachi drives that have the SSC feature turned off. Older ones came with them turned on and it can cause problems with certain host adapters.
As for speed, check out barefeats.com for reports on RAIDs and drives.

Check to see if an “in” or “out” point is sitting on or adjacent to a dissolve or crossfade. I’ve seen that cause similar errors in my setup.
