Has anyone found a reputable place to purchase a gig of memory for the MBP 17″ that’s less expensive than Apple? What brand seems to be preferred? Thanks.

Other World Computing. Never had any problems with any of the RAM upgrade I’ve purchased there over the last several years. This includes the RAM used in the 15″ Mac Book Pro I’m using right now.

A couple of days ago, Frys had a sale on 1GB sticks of Patriot Memory for the Macbook for $69.99. I bought two and so far, so good. I’ve got 6GB of Patriot memory in my G5 that I’ve used for over a year without any problems.

I’m not sure about the MacBook, but…

I’ve been using high-performance “OCZ” brand memory for the past few years and it’s been rock solid on both my G5 and my PCs.
