February 5, 2013 at 5:55 pm in reply to: using ‘scale to frame size’ will it effect the quality on the final export? We record our footage in 1080i and constantly need to send two different types of output to TV stations, we send a 1080i version and an NTSC (720×480)version. We have been using After Effects to do the down-converting and it looks pretty good, but I recently came across this post from Todd Kopriva that says that it is better to do it in PP. https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/2/1008025
I tried to do it in PP, but it looks horrible. I have a quadro 5000 card and have it set to use CUDA acceleration.
My question is, what method should I use to get the best results in PP from scaling and exporting. I used the Motion>Scaling effect and scaled it down to 34%, but I have also heard that I should use “Scale to Frame size” Does anyone know the correct method? Even with “Maximum Render Quality” it still looks bad. After Effects seems to do a much better job.
Thanks for the input.

The audio and video are in separate files and the video files are separated. I think they cut each file at 4gb. There must be some other way to do this.

September 12, 2012 at 2:07 pm in reply to: Decklink Driver 9.6.1 – B.S.O.D. Blue Screen crash – “BAD_POOL_CALLER”This new driver seemed to fix the problem for me. The other thing that I did was to change my “Power Options” to “High Performance.” I noticed my PCI Express was in energy saving mode, so I changed that and installed the new driver and no blue screen, just pristine video.

September 10, 2012 at 8:39 pm in reply to: Decklink Driver 9.6.1 – B.S.O.D. Blue Screen crash – “BAD_POOL_CALLER”I see they have a new driver, version 9.6.4 out today. I plan on giving that a try tomorrow. Has anyone else had success with the new driver?

August 29, 2012 at 3:43 pm in reply to: Decklink Driver 9.6.1 – B.S.O.D. Blue Screen crash – “BAD_POOL_CALLER”Thanks for the info. That makes sense to do a couple of reboots, I had never thought of that. I will give that a try as soon as possible. Would you recommend uninstalling the hardware first?
Thanks,

August 29, 2012 at 12:37 pm in reply to: Decklink Driver 9.6.1 – B.S.O.D. Blue Screen crash – “BAD_POOL_CALLER”I am having the same problem, except mine is a new intall of Decklink SDI. I can’t get the card to work with the 9.6.1 driver, but when I try to roll back the drivers, I get an install error. So I am dead in the water.
So I tried installing the Decklink in my other computer and it works. But I can’t use the other computer because it isn’t really built for video. So I have BMD support telling me that the card is fine, and so is the driver because I was able to get it working on the other computer.
The only difference I can determine is that the computer that it worked on is Windows 7 pro, with Service Pack 1 installed, the computer that I need it to work on is Windows 7 Ultimate without SP1 installed. I am going to try to install SP1 on the other computer later today. I don’t really care about driver 9.6.1, i just need to get a SDI signal in.
Anyone have any ideas about how to roll back the driver? I tried uninstalling and then installing older drivers, and then I tried installing the new, then installing the old over the top, same error.
Thanks,

Do you know if this also includes being able to use Quicktime and AVI clips in the media pool? Also, have you attempted to capture yet with the USB 3.0, and do you know if that includes compatibility support for Adobe OnLocation/Premiere Pro?
Thanks,

That’s great news. I was curious to see how the event went, I watched the live stream on YouTube and it looked great!
I have been helping my church get set up with video and we decided to go with the ATEM 1 M/E with the broadcast panel. The equipment should be delivered next week. Since we are running the broadcast panel, do we also need to have another computer hooked up to it running the software panel too? We will have an i Mac hooked up to run ProPresenter software and a PC with a viewcast card for our livestream. Could one of those computers be used to run the software panel in the background if necessary?
Thanks for your help.

Hello Dave,
I am having this same problem. I am doing a test for a shoot that will happen tomorrow. I am new to AE and to Keylight. I have attempted to do what you said in the forum, but I am having trouble getting the gray background to appear on my lower layer (as you instructed) when I mess with my settings in Keylight. I got what I think is an okay key, but it still has a lot of noise/crawl effect in the black hair (me). Here is the sample of what the video looks like: https://selectbroadcasting.thruinc.net/ExDn.aspx?id=029ZR8EUABT
I have the ability to shoot with HDV camera tomorrow on my shoot (renting a camera), but not sure if that will help. I can only ingest it into our system with Firewire. I have a betacam/mini dv deck that I could also bring in the footage. We have the ability to do the good lighting like you talked about, although the lighting on this sample is not great on the subject.
Can you elaborate how you might get the gray background to appear on the lower layer. Also, can you tell me if there is any other way that might be better to shoot the video.
Thanks for all your help.
