  • Noise In Objects When Keying With Keylight 1.2

Hey all, I’m doing a project where I’m keying out green screen using Keylight 1.2. Problem is, once I do the key, the objects left unkeyed all seem to have that video noise/crawly noise inside of them. It seems the darker the object (a pair of jeans, for example), the more noise within it. Is this just a setting within Keylight that needs tweaking? Thanks for your help!

Wow, worked like a charm. I really should stop keying with DV footage. Thanks so much!

    Hello Dave,

I am having this same problem. I am doing a test for a shoot that will happen tomorrow. I am new to AE and to Keylight. I have attempted to do what you said in the forum, but I am having trouble getting the gray background to appear on my lower layer (as you instructed) when I mess with my settings in Keylight. I got what I think is an okay key, but it still has a lot of noise/crawl effect in the black hair (me). Here is the sample of what the video looks like: https://selectbroadcasting.thruinc.net/ExDn.aspx?id=029ZR8EUABT

I have the ability to shoot with HDV camera tomorrow on my shoot (renting a camera), but not sure if that will help. I can only ingest it into our system with Firewire. I have a betacam/mini dv deck that I could also bring in the footage. We have the ability to do the good lighting like you talked about, although the lighting on this sample is not great on the subject.

Can you elaborate how you might get the gray background to appear on the lower layer. Also, can you tell me if there is any other way that might be better to shoot the video.

    Thanks for all your help.
