    Thank you Michael,

Maybe when I get Resolve I will be able to make ProRes files from my DPX as you suggested I do in Color.

The problem I’m having using Color is the DPX files need to start off with the Letter or Color won’t read them. The Spirit which is making my DPX files is set up to only output a 6 digit number (I asked twice about this). Since I have about 1 million frames and I’m new to this; I’m really nervous about doing any renaming. And for every set of backup files I make I need 12 TB. So I’d like to keep the files names the way they are.

Your response helps. I forgot the Color outputs Pro Res. If Resolve does the same thing, maybe that will help me do what I need to do!

  • Thanks for the reply. The info helps me greatly!

    Thanks for your reply!

I take that means it does not come with Sorenson Squeeze… 🙁

  • From what I understand the best reference projector around was developed by Joe Kane Productions and made by Samsung. I know there are 2 versions of that one that would be out of your price range. The A800 for $7,000 and A900 $13,000 and they are true reference monitors used at the highest end post houses in L.A.

There is an Samsung A600 for under $2,000 but I HAVE NO CLUE if this was produced by Joe Kane or if it has any similarities to the other 2. It might just have a similar number. But you might want to look into it.

As far as screens go. I’d seriously look at the Da-Lite Affinity (also created by Joe-Kane) I’ve seen the A900 projected onto it and it’s truly amazing… but $1,800 for the fixed screen 🙁

I’ll take you guys word for it, if it’s progressive it’s progressive.

So that does answer my question. Thanks 🙂

    Thanks again,

But just so I understand, I think there is something basic I don’t understand that I need to learn.

You wrote: You can have 1080i_24p

    To me that reads 1080interlaced_24progressive

It’s that little tiny “i” that just doesn’t make sense to me. If it’s progressive, then why is it there? Just to confuse newbies like me? 🙂

Chris thanks for the reply and the time it took to post the screen shot.

I’m still a little unsure if the end result will be a sequence that is interlaced or progressive (I want progressive).

In your screenshot it has the 1920×1080 I’m looking for, but next to that it reads: HDTV 1080i which is making me think it is converting my nice progressive frames to interlaced for the sequence.

In the field dominance box it does read “none”… BUT it’s grayed out.

The “HDTV 1080i” in the settings is what is what is really confusing me.

also, thanks for the heads up about the 65k frame limit!

I’ve used Neat Video too. It works so well I’ve wondered at times if there is some magic involved 🙂

At lower resolutions it can make the image look a little “plasticy” if you use it at full strength (with 16mm film at least), I normally back it off a bit and put some of the grain back in – just a touch. I can imagine with HD it would be flawless.

Neat video works so well it makes me wonder if it is the best thing on the market? It’s only 99 dollars and I have often wondered how it would stack up against far more expensive options.
