    Creative Cows,

    What I have:
I shot 16mm and the film was scanned so I have a numbered image sequence with 1920×1080 images (Meaning they are just numbered images in a folder at the moment)

I’m a bit confused. I’m surprised I can’t find a sequence preset for 1920×1080 24p with ProRes (or anything else actually).

I can find one for ProRes under “Load Sequence Preset”, but when I load that it changes to “HDTV 1080i (16:9)” in the sequence settings window?

Does Pro Res not have a true 1920×1080 24p setting?
If Pro Res does not have that option, is there another codec I can use? Possibly a RED codec? I will most likely print back to film in the future)

    Thanking you in advance!

Sounds like you have a tiff sequence.
Set the “still image duration on import” to one frame and you can bring em all in and drop in the sequence.

    The settings are:

Create a new sequence. Open the sequence settings b/4 putting anything in it and select your settings.

BTW, FC is a bit limited on managing stills and so Still Sequences.
Up to some posts received in the Forum, its seems there is a limit of 60.000 stills.
    That means 41 minutes length.
So rise the FC’s “Still Cache” (preferences), and if your film is longer than 41 minutes, chop it.

Chris thanks for the reply and the time it took to post the screen shot.

I’m still a little unsure if the end result will be a sequence that is interlaced or progressive (I want progressive).

In your screenshot it has the 1920×1080 I’m looking for, but next to that it reads: HDTV 1080i which is making me think it is converting my nice progressive frames to interlaced for the sequence.

In the field dominance box it does read “none”… BUT it’s grayed out.

The “HDTV 1080i” in the settings is what is what is really confusing me.

also, thanks for the heads up about the 65k frame limit!

    1080 is always 1080i
    720 is always 720p
in their shell so to speak.

within 1080i you can have 1080i_24p or 1080i_30p for example.

Just setup a NEW sequence to the spec you want and do not worry.
You are dealing with stills and will want Progressive so set it up like the screen shot.

    Thanks again,

But just so I understand, I think there is something basic I don’t understand that I need to learn.

You wrote: You can have 1080i_24p

    To me that reads 1080interlaced_24progressive

It’s that little tiny “i” that just doesn’t make sense to me. If it’s progressive, then why is it there? Just to confuse newbies like me? 🙂

[David Smith] “In the field dominance box it does read “none”… BUT it’s grayed out.
24fps can’t be other than Progressive.

[David Smith] “The “HDTV 1080i” in the settings is what is what is really confusing me.
That shows up on “pixel aspect” and “frame size”. Is common for all the 1920×1080 formats.

I’ll take you guys word for it, if it’s progressive it’s progressive.

So that does answer my question. Thanks 🙂
