    Thanks Don
    But…
When I export the quicktime it becomes 4:3?!?
I have tried quicktime and quicktime compressor, making sure I’m using the DVpal anamorphic codec, ticked and unticked everything I can!
Yes the sequence is 16:9, I have ticked anamorphic in the browser and the CG clip looks fine on the timeline with the canvas image showing 16:9. Opening distort in the motion tab shows it set to zero as I would expect.
The quicktime info reads 720×576 – is this right? Should anamorphic be wider?
    Many thanks

We run a 30sec countdown clock (inc slate) before all the progs we air, it allows a failsafe for the TX controllers and also gives the director peace of mind during live show playins.

I have a variety from Stibbs, Eureka, Rock river etc.
I installed them as per the instructions:
Library -> Application Support -> Final Cut Pro support System -> PlugIns
I’m running FPC4.5HD on both the G5 and the G4 powerbook, but they cause FCP to crash on startup on the powerbook!?!
    All advice greatfully received.

    Hi
I also found that adding the “flicker filter” (in the “video” bin) set to medium or max helped to reduce the problem.

    Hi
Another very obvious one. Is the image in your viewer or canvas window larger than the window? Try reducing the picture size to 25% to check.

August 10, 2005 at 7:43 am in reply to: FCP4 scrub as an effect

    Hi
I created an interesting “rewind the prog” effect simply by making a quicktime of the programme, and returning it to the timeline with a reverse 2000 speed change. Next live capturing a piece of black tape being shuttled in the player to give random thin white horizontal lines. Then simply luma keyed it over the footage on the timeline.
Is this similar to what you mean by scrub?

August 8, 2005 at 8:48 am in reply to: Travel Matte

    Hi Rolanda
Not sure about this specific tutorial – but to use a travelling matte I usually put the background video on layer 1, the forground footage on layer 3, then the matt between them on 2. Next ctrl click layer 3 and choose composite mode from the menu then Alpha or Luma depending on the type of matte you have. Easy as! Hope it works.
    God bless

    Thanks Shane,
I’ve currently only got soundtrack (not Pro) and was not at first glance impressed by it – I couldn’t see how to import an OMF. Will it do the job effectively or do I need to upgade to Pro. Have they dramatically improved it? I’ve read the Apple sales pitch – but they are trying to sell it!
    What’s your experience?
    Cheers
    David
