“Dragging into the program” is not enough information… That could mean a lot of things to those of us who know and use editing applications. Please be more precise… Are you encountering this issue when importing files into the Media Browser; are you even aware of and using the Media Browser; or, are you having the problem when dragging from the Media Browser to the timeline?

We don’t know if you are new to Premiere and having issues because you’re doing things like you’ve always done in other apps, or if you’ve patched the timeline incorrectly, etc, etc, etc.

No editors can spell Ann… If you fix all your spelling errors people will question your editing abilities. ?

Do you know if your producer imported via the Media Browser via drag and drop via the Windows Browser? If you don’t know you’d best make certain your producer is aware that the Adobe Media Browser should always be used, becsuse it intelligently parses the files on SD cards.

  • Let Puget build it!!! Period, end of story. You’re an editor, spend your time being creative, building a PC is not a creative endeavor, and you’ll be dealing with hardware and software for the next four or five years instead of being creative if you head down the DIY path.

    Thomas,

Perhaps you’re noticing that advertising dollars get you eyeballs on the Internet. Adobe spends enormous amounts on advertising and generating PR. I think you’re confusing Adobe’s successful high-powered advertising with this site’s editorial policy.

If you try to render the entire sequence it should balk on the offending clip(s).

    Jono,

For the record, zipping video files does not reduce the file size. Video is already compreseed and as such zipping will further compress them. This is why LTO tapes which advertise double data capacities when using compression algorithms simply cannot deliver any increased capacity over an uncompressed LTO tape.

Yes, however your “fidelity” may vary – i.e. there are innumerable variables that have changed between versions, so you should not expect every project to relink to every element perfectly.

If backward compatibility and repurposing/reediting past projects is important to you then staying in Mac should be one of your most important considerations. Nothing is insurmountable, but you’ll be forced to deal with a lot of stuff that would otherwise be a no-brainer if you stick with a MBP.
