    Paulo,

The problem may well be with DVDit Pro, because I use Nero and ReelDVD on the PC, and I can play DVDs just fine on my MAC G5.

Newegg has Maxline III 250gb SATA drives for $105. These are Maxtor’s drives with a 5-year warranty.

Thanks Brian, I may just get that book… But, I was really hoping Curtis would just write a short cheat sheet… He’s so very good at what he does… Such a fine fellow… So professional… etc., etc., etc….

[Russmann] “Do you still have the same opinion?”

Nope, that changes everything… You should undoubtedly move to Tiger and FCP 5 as soon as possible, without passing go and without collecting $200…

    Russ,

I think that with your rather dated MAC the benefits are not nearly as great as they might be with newer hardware.

    Curtis,

This is really good stuff… There are so many of us video people who don’t know web design tools, but who are experts with graphic design tools such as PhotoShop, Combustion, AE, etc. Can you possibly outline a simple workflow with some simple rules of thumb for us non-webbies?

For instance, which elements would you build in PS, which in the web design software? And, can you elaborate on the guidelines for choosing the proper resolution for the elements created in graphics program?

    Thank you,

If I were you I would go with SATA drives. They are much faster than FW800. And, daisy chaining your two FW800 drives diminishes the throughput of both drives, its the nature of firewire.

    Marcel,

Are you selling the DVD, or is the DVD just the storage medium on which you have stored your work product? Therein lies the difference in California.

So, if you are in the business of selling DVDs, you charge sales tax for the delivered DVDs. However, if you are a “creative,” you are actually charging the client for your creative services, not for the DVD on which your work product is stored.

    Does that help??

There is zero benefit to you capturing uncompresssed. DV50 captured to hard drive via firewire is bit for bit what is recorded on tape, and in addition, audio and timecode are captured at the same time via the same cable. And, 250gb hard drives sell for $120 now — thats space for well over 100 hours of DV50. Why would you even think about capturing lo-res???

That’s strange Paul, usually TVs that brag about wide viewing angles usually do have that feature. Plasmas and CRTs definitely have a distinct advantage however where viewing angle is concerned.
