Mine is still not running. I’ve checked permissions before and after the update, checked the QT extensions, have no 3rd party plugins running, trashed prefs, reinstalled the Pro Applications Update 2006-02, reinstalled the FCP 5.1.2 update, several restarts and zapped P-ram. Any ideas?

    System: G5/2GbDP 10.4.8

Do you have motionblur for this layer checked on?

As for the interlacing issue, check your settings in the Decklink driver. You probably have the option ‘Single field out on pause’ checked on. Switch it off and see if this is what’s troubling you.

I think you got Nucleo and X-factor mixed up. X-factor is a multi machine solution but only work till AE 6.5. Nucleo works only under AE 7 and works with the amount of processors.

Nucleo does make a difference even with only 1 frame to render. It let’s you use all 4 processors instead of 1. As for the layer, have you tried to precomp it? Also keep in mind that AE has a maximum in canvas size. I can’t tell you how much because I’m not behind my machine but check the help files.

Forget about the MacPro. The Quad G5 is much faster. AE still has a RAM limitation (3GB) so even when you stuff the MacPro up to 16GB it’s no use. Save your money and invest in Nucleo. Much cheaper with much more result. With Nucleo you can benefit from all 4 processors and that’s something that really counts. Hold down caps lock when rendering so AE is not updating frames in the comp window when rendering but you probably already know that.

You’ve got me confused here. When I render straight out of AE and drop the animation in a browser window to check, the alpha channel is working. But everything looks ugly because of heavy dithering. From searches here on the cow I learned it was better to render out as a QT or tiff seq. (with an alpha) and take that into IR. Once there I created a new document with transparency. But when I import the sequence I loose the checkerboard background. I’ve tried several options for matte: none and background but still no result. Choosing a specific background color is no option because the animations are placed on the gradient background of a Powerpoint presentation. The placement (and size) is out of my hands so I defenitly need an alpha. So, what can I do?

I forgot to mention, I use AE 7 and ImageReady CS2.

It also looks that they’ve applied just a slight bevel edge to the letters.

Thanx Dan! So if I have expression questions in the future it’s wise to specify which version of AE I’m running?
