Unable to attend this year but would be very happy to send you my contact information if you like. Also found out that Super 16 cameras are still being made. Have never actually shot on film, just freelance camera operator and would love to expand out to other things. Anyways, glad to hear people archiving on film, no worries about a hard drive biting the dust or having to deal with a format codec that could go obselete.

Not able to attend NAB or CES this year as well, perhaps next year. I would love to attend any conference or conventions that relate to film. Yes, that is not a typo, said film, any format. Just purchased a Rhonda cam from the good folks over at pro8mm.com and it arrived yesterday. Crazy as it may seem, film is a big interest. I am not a dinosaur.

Yes! I was predicting that there would be an announcement of sorts around NAB, great news. Just waiting for news on what is planned for Resolve. Will be nice to enhance still images without the monthly rent. Looks like Fusion has a nice set of color correction tools.

I remember seeing and hearing about Film Composer while a student at The Art Institute of Dallas. We had two Media Composer systems on the old pizza box Mac computer. I think After Effects was a young buck at the time. Back then storage was not cheap and not much either. Went to class then saw a film next door, we were next to the General Cinema which is now part of the school. Sadly the one by the mall was torn down a few years later, a relly nice theater. Those were the days. We also were shooting on S-VHS and Betacam SP, and had the linear editing system. Times have changed, so has the workflow.
Perhaps we might be critical of technology as a whole, not just software. Think back when the new Mac Pro came about. That along with companies being proprietary with their equipment and ones that have gone rental only. My two cents.

Interesting to see job postings such as this. Looks like X is no longer a toy, debate is over. I left the other version far behind, thherfore I am no dinosaur. Wait, something about wanting to film with Super 8 might contradict that statement.
