April 1, 2015 at 3:26 pmYes! I was predicting that there would be an announcement of sorts around NAB, great news. Just waiting for news on what is planned for Resolve. Will be nice to enhance still images without the monthly rent. Looks like Fusion has a nice set of color correction tools.

April 1, 2015 at 6:03 pmI hear Resolve has some decent color correction tools. For an NLE at least.

April 1, 2015 at 6:26 pmThey turned the OS X version around pretty quickly as the acquisition was announced in September around IBC. The Blackmagic Booth is a must see every year now. The fact they leaked this before NAB makes me wonder what they’re saving for NAB itself.

April 1, 2015 at 6:27 pmAnd this could very much be a preview. An actual release could still be months away.

April 1, 2015 at 6:46 pmI’m sure it is. In years past for Resolve, whatever was shown in April releases in July/Aug. At least that’s been the pattern.

April 2, 2015 at 12:14 pmI would honestly be interested if they got into the display market but for professionals.

April 2, 2015 at 1:51 pmI could see that happening – they do love their hardware strategy in context of the free (and not free) software solutions and makes sense as an extension to their hardware I/O. They have color science already in house. Price wise it would compete with HP Dreamcolor whose color science was from X-Rite.
Another camera? Price drop on exiting cameras? Maybe. Another acquisition? Perhaps but a monitor company. Maybe buy an audio software company, but they don’t really do much in audio hardware unrelated to video, but would complement a suite of editing/color and VFX/graphics compositing. Maybe start adding GPU to their I/O?
Who knows. Always an interesting time of year.

April 2, 2015 at 4:04 pmI’ve been waiting for them to expand their line of production monitors. I would really like to see some 7″ on camera monitors and stand mounted 10-15″ monitors; built in waveform monitor, battery operated, 6GB HD-SDI, ability to load 3D LUTs, I think they would really clean up there.
