Thanks to all the informative and quick responses, much appreciated. Richard, thanks for the link. I might purchase that Rhonda camera, looks interesting. Glad to see someone producing those cameras, hoping Super 16 cameras will be in production again, if not already. As much as I love my BMCC, film is a more appealing medium. Probably will shoot on film, edit in X then back to film with a digital copy as a backup plan, just in case. What would the workflow be with color grading? Would like to use Resolve but open to other options. Nucoda looks interesting but not sure if it runs natively under OS X, which might be a consideration. Again, much thanks for all the feedback!

Thanks for posting this. I have seen bad edits in movies and good edits. To me it is not so much the quantity of edits but rather the quality. Sometimes the quality of the edit just passes by, never noticed unless it is bad. In that situation, it stands out like a sore thumb.
I have to agree some shots should be on a bit longer. Too much fast paced cutting is an eyesore and makes my head hurt trying to figure out what just happened. The biggest problem with NLE vs film is that the computer makes it way too easy to make any number of changes. That leads also to some weird transitions being added. Film requires more discipline both in principal photography and in editing. Less eye candy to muck things up. Digital feels sterile and distant. Film grain, scratches, and dirt add a sense of “warmth” to the movie. Guess that makes me an analog lover.

By quantity or quality, I don’t mind how many edits there are as long as the transition is appropriate. Just a bunch of random edits and random scenes are a bit annoying unless that is what is intended for your audience. Editing is subjective and often subjective at the same time. So there is not right or wrong response here, just an opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Would also like to see BMD make a real film camera. Would love to see film make a huge comeback. It feels more engaging, digital seems sterile. Just my two cents.

Going to update the firmware today, love the frequent update cycle. Wisht that Apple would release X 10.1.5, forgot when the last update was.
Looking forward to see what the BMD team has in store for Fusion and Resolve. Really hoping that Resolve will be another NLE option. The roundtripping with Cinema DNG raw is a bit of a pain in the caboose. Would edit and grade there, then off to X for finishing. Oh well, that is how the ball bounces.
Of other interest is that Digital Bolex camera. Thing looks, well, awesome. Price perhaps a bit high but the wow factor, is cool. Tim, any chance of a forum for that?
One last thing would be some FCP X stuff from RDT, which would be nice.

Fusion tightly integrated with Resolve (keeping the two separate) would be a start.

Been eyeing the Digital Bolex, interesting looking camera. Would like, I mean, love to see a more affordable Red or Arri camera. Better yet, want to see film be brought back into existence. Digital seems too sterile, too distant. Something about film dirt, dust and scratches make a feature seem more alive.

I agree, they better not add commercials to the mix, cable is bad enough. I mean 500 channels of useless, rehashed garbage. Not wanting to risk a sprained thumb as result of constant channel surfing.
