There is a spline editor which I believe shows you keyframes and such. You are spot on with your post but having to dig through all the effects in a stack can be a small pain occasionally. One thing that Fusion offers is to click on a node to see what the comp looks like at a certain”stage”. You can also have up to 6 versions of settings for each node (at least most of them) which I really love. Say you are doing a blur effect or adding text. You may want to cycle through a couple of varations of different styles, looks or fonts. You can easily disable a node at anytime. With that said layers will always have their advantages. I guess nodes for me are more of a personal choice. The downside to Fusion is playback requires some rendering. Motion gives real time playback or something pretty darn close. I still love Motion but worried about what is in store for it at times.

I hope Simon will stay as well. I may not agree completely with his opinions in his original post in this thead but I respect both his opinions and him. A healthy debate is always good. Simon, please continue to contribute here!

This forum used to be fun. I don’t mind a lively debate but we all need to be sensible. Snide and condescending remarks should never be welcome. There are at least two members in this thread that are just that, perhaps three. Any and every NLE on the market is going to have its own set of issues not to mention deficiencies. However, one should never use that as an excuse to belittle others over a difference of a viewpoint or opinion. It is one thing to be critical over a piece of software but quite another to resort to personal attacks or putting others down. This forum is not a political debate group on Facebook rather it is a place where we should all try to be corteous, helpful and professional. It is sad to see a great forum and thread get ruined by a few bad apples.

I like Final Cut and I know it has its problems. I don’t use Premiere Pro often for my own reasons but will never put someone down who uses it or call the software trash. It is their deciscion to make and will respect it. They know what works best for them. We all have a choice and we all need to respect others.

Another issue I see is people being belittled because they are not using the most up to date version. They have legitimate reasons in many instances. So they don’t upgrade like everyone else. We should reach out to them, find out what their reasons are and give the best advice we can without smacking them in the face. I know of at least two people who does not follow that simple advice.

Please be tactful, diplomatic and friendly regardless of your opinions. I hope that is not too much to ask.

I do think Adobe will always have its place both in the classroom and the film industry. Nothing wrong with learning as many applications as possible. Not everyone will like Adobe because of their business model but I don’t hold a grudge against anyone who chooses to go with them. We should keep an open mind otherwise we will miss out on opportunities. The more programs everyone can learn the better.

I have been asking myself that same question. Perhaps when Resolve 15 is out of the beta stage the answer shall be more clear. This is a good move on the part of Adobe but they also need to have special pricing for their long term user base as well. No question the Fusion page in Resolve is interesting. I have been playing with it some and there is lots of potential in it. With that said, I doubt Adobe will go into “panic” mode anytime soon. They have the subscription level they want and anyone existing the rental only option will be of little consequence because the numbers will not be significant enough. My two cents.

Just watched it yesterday and excellent work as always. The timeline is by far the biggest challenge when coming over from a traditional NLE with tracks like FCP Dinosaur, I mean old school.

I like to call the modular approach a Lego Mac Pro. Just wondering if they will have a gold plated option.
