Yeah your issue is due to:
1. you have to add the graphic card manually to PP meaning you are probably not using the mercury playback engine.
2. did you set the ram preference?
3. you might need a fast scratch disk not the startup disk.all basic crap you have to do with any editing software….

October 24, 2012 at 4:56 pm in reply to: Premiere 6 will not allow you to change the project file to open with 5.5No dice…. I loved premiere pro 5 and 5.5 hate hate hate 6 I’ve ranted for a 6 months about the constant crashing and issues I’m having.. Looks like 6.02 and 10.75 have eased it but I hate adobe for this mess it literally cost me about 3 weeks of work and now I just found out since 2 of my drives went south probably from the constant every minute crashing I lost more PP project files so I have to start over. 6 hour projects….
You cannot go backwards you’ll need to upgrade.

I’ve been using a mac laptop with SSD and 16gb of ram 2.4 i7 and I noticed with esata SSD as my scratch I use the aja disk test and internally I get 250 write 450 read and on ssd / esata 3gb/s controller (enclosure and esata express card) I see 85 write 106mb/s read. I have to have the program monitor on 1/4 qty and 25% viewing to have reliable normal to 16x scrubbing speeds.
You might consider trying to lower those settings and see if this helps. I just bought an imac with the faster 6970 amd opencl with 2gb ram on that card but I have the 1tb seagate 7200rpm which I think is actually slower for scrubbing but my imac is fw800 for a while longer and that only shows 35/50mb/s read write
I’m working on a project with avchd/mts files and have done avchd/dslr Canon projects

Not sure if this will help but I have a new imac with AMD 6970 which is not supported but the earlier 6770 is, I used the txt hack buy control clicking the app open/open contents then selecting opencl (there is a CUDA txt) and after allowing permissions, I was able to add my card restart and Mercury was applied to my project.
If you have an updated driver and this card is newer, I’m pretty sure you’ll be ok. I’m on mac so I’m just offering my opinion and not fact.

What I think is the guy turned the focus off and was out of focus which is why you can’t fix it…
Beyond that issue you can try Red Bullet instant HD that might do something, in photoshop you would create two layers (maybe you can try this in video I’ve never tried) you sharpen a lower layer not the original!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you then erase the edges on the upper layer so the middle of the skin is softish and the edges are sharp you do this with a soft brush on about 15-30% opacity so you brush the edges away so it’s smooth from sharp to blurry… it creates an illusion of sharpness….

Hi to me it looks like he shot on SD not HD…you can try photoshop but it would literally take you over a week to try a blur/sharpen edges layer technique…

July 17, 2012 at 6:19 pm in reply to: Premiere Pro complete shut down of computer upon rendering any ideasHi I am on a mac laptop 2012 17″ with the AMD or ATI 6770 on os 10.7 adobe allows Open CL to run the mercury engine on this particular video card… I had to swap drives and am now on an older 10.7.3 and so far so good… Not sure if you’re on Mac but with 10.7.4 and Adobe CS6 there are a few weird issues such as:
the audio going to grey not allowing you to hear anything.
the crashing of premiere doing mundane tasks -

July 17, 2012 at 4:57 pm in reply to: after 40 hours of rendering the last 9 seconds nothing is happening….this is a laptop… i was testing the 10.7 which allows the merc playback to work and it does help about 15% but it’s not been stable 2 weeks ago the PP would crash every 5 min just scrubbing video or anything I’ve been resigned to viewing at 10% size at 1/4 qty in the viewer. the 17″ laptop is not an edit machine, I realize that but I was hopeful at first and with my life being able to take two laptops was really great and vs my 2009 tower the i7 is fast. The overheating genius at apple makes sure this is not possible but it’s the big brother aspect that is pissing me off… I have just removed the hard drive so I can try to use 10.6 but really you can’t start up using any external drives or any os if the internal is usable? What is that? Also, if you have not tried it, you cannot even get past 2 windows if you don’t have a wireless network. What if mine is out which Time Warner goes out almost every day… I don’t get all of this why is this harder?

July 17, 2012 at 4:32 pm in reply to: after 40 hours of rendering the last 9 seconds nothing is happening….Hi I agree, that’s why I went to the restore setting but I wanted to go to 10.7.2 not 10.7.4 apple won’t even let me start up with an external drive that’s really pissing me off I have a client meeting on Thursday i’ve been dicking with this since Sat. I’m so pissed off right now.
my other computer 10.6.8 is running along slower because I have the 6770 graphics card which is not supported with the Merc eng. but at least it’s stable.
