Premiere 6 will not allow you to change the project file to open with 5.5
Posted by David Fuku on May 17, 2012 at 7:58 pmThis is making me angry, Adobe has changed code so you can not set what version of Premiere will open your project. That makes me angry, on Mac you normally click the icon of a file click get info and set the app you want to open a particular file.
However with CS6 you can not do this, Adobe, Apple, and Google they are all getting under my skin with this type of crap.
Anyone know how to override this?

May 17, 2012 at 8:19 pmExport XML. Re-import. This always happens with Adobe products version to version.

May 17, 2012 at 8:32 pmHi that’s not what I mean, I can open the project in 5 or 5.5 but if you look at the project (archived project) it now show it’s icon as a CS6 project and if you try to change all to 5.5 or 5.0 it will not stick and revert to 6 only.
I’ve never seen any app do this behavior before.

May 17, 2012 at 9:17 pmThat is correct. Last installed show the icons.
There is a script that lets you change the icons.
I will see if the person who wrote it will let me publish it.———————————————–

So don’t kill the messenger
It works perfectly but it is still at your own risk. The script will set preferences to CS5.5 when CS6 also has been installed.

May 18, 2012 at 11:09 amI have both CS5 and CS5 installed. If I first open PPro CS5 and then the file that was made in CS5, there is absolutely no problem…

October 24, 2012 at 2:21 pmI have a client that wants to do some editing in Premiere 6 for Windows and then hand it off to me, and I have Premiere 5.5 for Mac.
Would this work?
Thanks!

October 24, 2012 at 4:56 pmNo dice…. I loved premiere pro 5 and 5.5 hate hate hate 6 I’ve ranted for a 6 months about the constant crashing and issues I’m having.. Looks like 6.02 and 10.75 have eased it but I hate adobe for this mess it literally cost me about 3 weeks of work and now I just found out since 2 of my drives went south probably from the constant every minute crashing I lost more PP project files so I have to start over. 6 hour projects….
You cannot go backwards you’ll need to upgrade.
