I’ve never heard of audio sync being common at all and I read lots of AE forums. I render projects between 10 seconds to 2 minutes in length and have never expereienced an audio sync problem since AE was CoSA.
But let’s see what we can do for you:
Are your exporting or rendering from AE?
How long is your project?
At what point does the audio start to lose sync?
Is it longer or shorter than the video?bogiesan

In the olden days, we’d do this with Photoshop and then lots of blur.
In the truly ancient days, we’d simply shoot interesting things with a camera and run the focus out.As Thorsten noted, any grayscale image can be turned into beautiful mutlicolr gradients with Colorama, an underappreciated filter.

Don’t buy a card exclusively for AE. OpenGL is a cruel joke on the Mac. Before you go thinking OpenGL is useful, take a few hours to study the OpenGL development sites so you know how to read the (IMO deliberately misleading) specifications for graphics cards.
The state of the art on the Macintosh appears to be the nvidia 3870 (or is it 3780?) and this will offer improved performance in applications such as Apple’s Motion But if you’re an Adobe-only editor, your best bet is to study the AE specifications pages at Adobe’s marketing site.
NAB is coming up so wait to see if anyone announces new products.

That fact that you must render in the timeline means the media does not match the sequence, regardless of the settings. And where did prores enter the equation?
Try viewing the properties for one of your clips and also check the sequence settings you’re working with and post that information for us.
If anyone can figure it out for you, it’s these guys. I’m just here to get in the way.

It’s not a bug in the software, it’s on your systems.
I have read and re-read your post many times and I cannot imagine anything that could possibly cause this on different project on multiple machines. It’s possible to set in and out points and tell FCP to loop them but that is easy switched off and, besides, you must make an effort to set it up and push the loop function.bogiesan

Sorry to butt in. This may not be relevant.
My old 1880s required manually getting into the setup menu to perform reliable insert edits unless a full rs422 control lashup was available. We used an ancient and obscure rs422 port thingy on they old G3s and G4s (modem replacement doodad) but the G5s and Intels no longer have such a device available, AFAIK.bogiesan

You may not be able to use them at all but try it. It’s a weird format. All recordable DVDs are weird formats.
Easiest thing to do is get the camera they were shot with and hook it up to your DV camera and make a dub. Capture form the dub.bogiesan

Dan, what a cool idea. I once did that with a stop motion rig. The background for the whole project never changed so we just attached it to the camera rig with three 90 degree conduit sections and put the rest of the props and jigs between the background and the camera. Lights were bolted to the pipes, too. Revolutionized the setup at the beginning of each day’s shooting.
