Yar. You will want to have all of the Text Animation resources in front of you as you try to figure out how to apply animators and adjust their numerous settings. These are is not particularly difficult but they are less than readily apparent. Have the manual open, the online help system open, and the AE Community Help up on the Web.

Importing material form the Canon DSLR is not, as LaRonde has noted, a simple matter. Have you successfully done this before? There are many articles on the Net describing several different workflows. EventDV magazine has one and Stu Maschwitz’s site is absolutely priceless and right on the cutting edge of this filmmaking process.

You can either embed or use a separate QT player. Which do you prefer? Or with which method are you more familiar?
The biggest problem most slide show folks have is failing to understand the playback capabilities of their host machine. I try to stick with conventional DV if my prezo playback is from a Macintosh, Powerpoint or Keynote. If I’m forced to port my video to a PC, I use WMV and whine.

Not necessarily. If you have two separate display cards (or have more VRAM on one than Motion can use effectively) spanning two or even three displays won’t affect your operation.

If you’ve just got the one card, or it’s a bit underpowered, I wouldn’t take our word for any of this. Conduct your own trials to see if moving everything to a single window of managed panes affects your performance. You’d be doing us all a great service.bogiesan

Thanks for the tip, I’ve wondered about that.
My solution was to simply slog through the text entry manually. But, now that I think about it, I’m not surprised at all that MS doesn’t communicate with Apple’s software. What if you save out of Word as .rft?bogiesan

How I’d approach it depends on the visual composition: where does the 15 go in relation to all of those significant digits? If the 15 is stationary, all you need to do is fake the numbers as a barely recognizable blur while the first two digits ratchet up. That’s fairly easy to do with just hard coding 16 individual text objects but if you can tolerate the stylization, use the LiveFonts Odometer or Flipcount.

Many of us require several different setting or different keyers applied to several copies of the same footage in order to extract a perfect matte.You can explore chromakey technique on the Internet for days but there’s a really good reason Keylight is set up for green or blue. You will quickly regret no having shot your footage correctly if your intent was to extract the background.
