    Perform a COW Search for EKG OR Heart Beat. It’s been done here a coupple of times including at least one tutorial.

    You can use a path that you create in after effects of in illustrator and paste into after effects. Then you can use the stroke effect and set start and end keyframes to write it on and off. You can also use trapcode 3d stroke if you like. Then apply some glows and just get nice path’s and use something like the grid plugin to make a nice grid background. I’m sure there are many tutorials on this as mentioned above.

    Use Vegas on the path which Vegas wants to call a “contour.”

    Vegas is terribly cool and terribly underused.
