Labels do work properly. Implementing them proper is a user error either based on not activating the display or trying to apply them to clips in the Browser and expecting them to appear on user-defined independent clips in the timeline.

Sorry no one ever got back to you but I think you’ve stumped the band. I can tell you that I have seen such artifacts but I have no idea where, when or if anyone ever figured them out.
If you were using DVDSP3 you could set compression markers at those scenes and that might convince the encoder to rethink the compressor settings.bogiesan

Can’t. There is no direct way to do this in FCP. Silly, we know, we’ve been screaming about since v1.
But copying and pasting keyframes may not be what you really want to do. You could delete your middle keyframes and set the beginning and end keyframes easily since the object doesn’t move. Then set your intermediates. You might want to write them down or get a screen shot of the coordinates.

There are many other apps that will do the job. Look for ‘DVD ripper” at versiontracker.com
Warning: This is a very long process, lots of encoding, decoding, transcoding and reading and writing. A 20-minute clip, no audio, moved from a DVD-TS file to DV-NTSC takes nearly 2 hours on my dual 1G, Pre-Mirror Door G4.
DVDxDV is a great app. Excellent support.

It’s death.You must purchase a new Pro key or wait till your update for the Production Suite arrives.
People are NOT happy with what happens to their systems after doing two silly things:
Updating to QT7 in the middle of a project without doing a clone of their system
and
Updating to Tiger in the middle of a project without making a backup clone fo their system.Update at your peril.

Highly recommend you immediately purchase one or more of the major Mac OS bibles. If you manage the network, you’re able to fix this easily. If you must put in a change request to your IT nerds, you won’t get tiem to listen to you without some way of proving you know what you’re talking about.
There are issues resolving names in Samba and you will have horrible troubles attempting to send files to a winderz server since your Macintosh uses AFP and Microsoft turned all that support off.
Our Tiger boxes dropped right into our network and Tiger has resolved many issues. But we have recently started using a specialized application on a couple of the winderz servers called ExtremeZIP (or something like that). It allows Apple File Protocol to be used on disk space carved out of the server. This has made moving our Macintosh files around the network completely seamless. Just like it’s supposed to be.

There is no direct painting facility in FCP as it ships.
This is only one suggestion, there are many others. (However, if you have AE, use it)
Copy your clip and put it in V2.
Use a 4 or 8 point matte on the V1 clip to open a hole into the clip below that is roughly the shape of your objectionable object.
Do whatever you can to the clip below to hide it.
Shift it to the right, apply a bit of blur, several possibilities.You want to use a copy of your clip because movements and shadows and other subtle stuff will match.

3) drag the markers into the queue window
4) select the batch folder in the queue window, and change the settings to your specs.

Kevin, we’re seeing an increase in “timeline playback hesitation”-type posts here and on apple.com.
Do you suppose some of the answers could be as simple as FW drives getting filled up?
