Big hello to all the creative cows!
I’m fairly a new FCP user so still strugling with simple stuff I hope u can help me with the following..
I’m editing with FCP 4 on my powerbook G4. I need to transfer a 1 minute video from a dvd to my project. How do I do that? I have idvd and quick movie on my computer.
How do I create an independent movie from a dvd and use it in FCP sequence?
    I appreciate any help.
    thanks

You must either digitize the clip from a DVD player or use this app….https://www.dvdxdv.com/ Good Luck.

There are many other apps that will do the job. Look for ‘DVD ripper” at versiontracker.com

Warning: This is a very long process, lots of encoding, decoding, transcoding and reading and writing. A 20-minute clip, no audio, moved from a DVD-TS file to DV-NTSC takes nearly 2 hours on my dual 1G, Pre-Mirror Door G4.

DVDxDV is a great app. Excellent support.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Get the Pro version of DVDxDV it enables you to render to all your codecs not just dv.
