In any case, AE, Motion or FCP, you will need to scale your clip up to about 110-120% to cover the fact that, as you move it around the frame, you will see the edge of the clip.

This is generally not a good practice unless you add some other effects such as blurs, motion blur, some scan line, video schmutz like snow or tracking errors to help hid the magnification.

    > Since the video is rendering with all frames intact, I’m figuring this is some kind of Final Cut setting toward which I need to be pointed. Can anyone give me a hand? < FCP has a weird way of showing last frames. I do not use anything other than NTSC so I can't help you directly but just change the duration of your comp in AE by extending it about 10 frames. Trim it in FCP. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

December 11, 2006 at 3:53 pm in reply to: DVD Studio ProMarkers don’t show up

Mot people make this same fundamental error the first time they try chapter markers. You are leaving out one or more of the less-obvious steps. You can trust me, it’s a user error. When you figure it out, you’ll be quite pleased with how easily this is to do.

Try a short sequence and place your chapter markers carefully, following the instructions in the FCP manual.

However, the easiest way to do chapter markers is inside DVDSP.

    It’s all in the manual.
Sorry no one got back to you, apparently looking it up would have been faster than asking here.

December 8, 2006 at 6:04 pm in reply to: All acceptable File Formats?

It’s on the apple.com marketing site for FCP suite, “almost anything that moves that isn’t proprietary” is the simple answer.
But that’s only half the story. There are tons of after market and third party filters and cards to make lots of other formats possible.
Easier to ask if your specific format is usable.

Can’t help you with the Kona-specific issue but go ahead and capture audio and video and then delete the video. Even if you’re recording twenty hours of voice over, you should have a couple of gigs for the video.

    Figure out the glitch later.

December 8, 2006 at 6:00 pm in reply to: video card for Motion 2?

Please don’t cross post stuff like this. Wastes lots of time and energy.
You got good responses over on apple.com.
The fundamental problem is not the graphics card anyway. You failed to ascertain whether Motion 2 will run on your 1G G4. It won’t. Minimum CPU specs are 1.25G.

We were doing this stuff back when AE first introduced 3D. You don’t need anything extra, you just some guidance. Get a copy of Angie Taylor’s AE5 book. Of course, this isn’t going to give you volumetric lighting effects interacting with swirling fog clouds. For that high zoot 3D stuff you do not need AE at all.

December 7, 2006 at 6:37 pm in reply to: Shatter Effect: Bringing a logo through a background

It’s easily understood but this is easy to do using WaveWorld. You set your logo as the floor and animate it rising. If you have TotalTraining’s AE stuff you can watch His Nibs do it for you. It’s lovely.

Shatter might do it but it would be a completely different effect. You can pply Shatter two or more times to the same layer and use very small itmes as the pattern. You can get a granular effect, rather like sand, but you cannot do a liquid simulation with Shatter, AFAIK.

What do you want this card to be fast at doing? Rednering AE? Won’t help. Games? Dunno.
