I am making an animation of headlights driving down a road at night through the woods, which I animated in Cinema 4D. I would like to add some fog in the road, with the headlights shining through it, and thought it would be easier to achieve this in After Effects. I do have Particular in AE, but haven’t figured out how to make wispy fog like I am driving through it…

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

Search in the COW Archives, this has been discussed a lot.

For everything else, there’s Mast..err..Fractal Noise.

We were doing this stuff back when AE first introduced 3D. You don’t need anything extra, you just some guidance. Get a copy of Angie Taylor’s AE5 book. Of course, this isn’t going to give you volumetric lighting effects interacting with swirling fog clouds. For that high zoot 3D stuff you do not need AE at all.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
