If your movie came out of AE as an Animation file with alpha, when you drop it into a conventional DV timeline, lots of ugly things will happen to it as it is converted to DV.

< You can remove just those two fonts easily enough. Just use FontBook to disable them. Mac Help will give you the basics on how to use FontBook. Perhaps we are not visualizing the same meaning for the term, “alpha source.”
I’ve been using cycore particle effects since they were originally released as SEC and FEC. The ability to use an alpha shape as the particle creation source has always been a fabulous feature.

Look up the PS Classic effect in the Cycore manual.

That would be CCParticle Systems or CCParticle Systems 2. They will use an alpha shape for particle source. Might not be what you’re looking for, exactly.
There is a large PDF on the installation disk all about the CC effects. You won’t get it without deliberately looking for it and copying it to your system. There is also some help on the cycore Web site.

Yar, “real shadows” on that effect are one thing but fake shadows aren’t that hard to do. You can create an animated black matte with a trapezoidal shape, enhanced with gradient or displacement blur, render as a movie, and flip it for either side.
