    Foam and vector blur.

You can also create your water using Caustics and Wave World and then bend it around to appear to be squirting from a hose or dropping from a hand.

CC Particle World does a great job of applying ballistics to something that can look like water but ti takes many hours of goofing around.

contact Totaltraining.com and ask if they have any copies of their original 3d tutorials. You’re wanting one specifically called SPACE COASTER. Incredible. It will give you agood place to start.

But, more directly, AE is not a place where you’re going to have any fun at all creating a 3D world.

Split the layer and delete the effect.

This can get messy but it’s how it’s been done for about 10 years.

Not looking over you shoulder, hard to tell if this will help at all.

I’d figure out how one wall was supposed to work and then duplicate the comp. The wall and the lights will be there. Just replace the items on the wall.

Boris Cylinder has a percentage of wrap parameter. Basically a no-brainer for unrolling a window shade.
If you need this effect more than once, buy a Boris product that includes the 3D stuff like Cube, Sphere and Cylinder.

April 12, 2007 at 9:16 pm in reply to: Long Time Apple Fan SHAKING with anger

    > But, what I’m really interested in is the general consensus about how it’s ok for Apple to stop offering the cross-grade at all. How is that fair, whether someone migrated within the first 6 months of the Intel releases, or if they waited? And, if you are an active post house, on a full time job where you can’t afford to be without those discs, how can you send them in? < We were originally insulted by the demand we send in our disks but then we realized: The program was an extraordinary value and an unprecedented procedure. You make disk images of your disks as backups at your end, send them secure mail with insurance and for $50 stupid dollars you get $1,200 worth of new stuff. Finally, arguing with Apple about anything is a waste of breath. You either do it Apple's way or you don't do it. Period. Sometimes there are human beings on the phone. Most of the time they are another species. We jumped on the is deal in the first three or four weeks because Apple clearly stated there was an expiration date. Then they extended it. Then they extended it again. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

  • I cannot imagine why deleting your prefs would cause this so, umm, are you SURE the audio is actually out of sync? How have you determined this to be absolutely certain? Or does it just kinda look that way?

If the audio is actually out of synch, moving it will put it back (unlink, slip the audio track a frame at a time). If the tracks are truly out of sync, they will have different timecode start and start points. But if it hasn’t been moved, moving it will put it out of sync and you might never get it back. Could be you’ve simply changed the default audio processing of your system.

April 10, 2007 at 6:24 pm in reply to: Related “adjusting transitions” question

There are some third party transitions with these options.
But for a simple dissolve, you can set keyframes for the transparency of the upper layer and adjust the keyframes to be smooth Beziers. Note that most of FCP’s transitions are not emulated as effects, they can only be applied between adjacent clips.
It’s a silly workaround for something many of us took for granted in other NLEs. Might someday get addressed but, honestly, I’ve never really needed this kind of control.

Style. Look and feel. Who designs this stuff? You aor them> Do they understand video or are they hopeless Photoshop twits?
Output format? What’s your deliverable, do you need to take your QT to another shop for digiBeta masters?
How many copies and who handles the duplication?
What are the safety/backup procedures and who acquires/pays for the additional storage? How long are you going to be required to keep it or do you hand it off to the client?
Make sure your insurance covers loss of the intellectual property that cannot be replaced such as the camera tapes.
Are your shooting in a studio? Who pays for that stuff?
