[David Roth Weiss] “No, not with swf files. Flash flv files must be embedded. “

Umm, yeah, what DRW said. Hence the massive confusion about Flash.
But as a universal delivery codec, it rocks.

Be sure to check the other forums where you have posted this same question. Maybe one of them has an answer for you.

    Compressor 3?

Talk to the client’s tech geek, find out who supplies their regular clips and call them to see what they’re using. Or send them the clips and pay to have them do it (often easier). Visit nexus Web site and find out more about the system. Another reason to never get involved with proprietary rigs.

[walter biscardi] “Just curious why you would do this over a $99 plug-in?”

Um, probably doesn’t apply in all situations.

But we find having the (damn) PC around is super convenient for tons of stuff. Knowing that the WMP media from the (damn) PC is absolutely compatible with all other (damn) PCs is somehow comforting.

All those whackos coming through the door with PowerPoint and other Microsoft files get instant service, no file conversions or Mac Office discrepancies. It’s convenient, that’s all.

Flash has its own issues, mostly an absurdly ignorant user bas on the administration side, folks who think Flash is the answer to everything.

but, yeah, Flash might be a viable solution for playback on a the PC. Might not be the desired interchange format for the client’s needs.

Wing: Please let us know how this spot comes out.
One thing that has not been discussed at any length: budget. Does anyone on the production staff understand rotoscoping in order to provide a decent budget estimate?

If you get to your next client meeting and they say, “It’s gonna cost HOW much?” you might want to have one or two other options ready to go. The new Puppet Tool comes to mind but that would require a new stylistic decision. As would conventional puppet animation in AE using individual elements for the limbs.

[ash-of-AE] “i want to same type of that text effect.
    “

Contact Dean and ask him which set of CDs include that text element. And then BIUY IT FROM HIM! Cheap, cool, and EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT! What could possibly be simpler?

October 1, 2007 at 1:47 pm in reply to: AE 7.0 renderspeed/ buying new hardware

Rendering issues are almost impossible to diagnose by remote control. Too many uncommunicated factors. Your CPU speed indicates you have an issue on your machine or OS, buying a new machine will not necessarily accomplish or improve anything, especially with DV as your output. The USB drives contribute something to the slowdown.

Graphics cards only supply a bit of acceleration generally and usually only for previews. Certain effects use OpenGL for rendering to final rez but OpenGL just doesn’t work as promised for rendering, seems to me.
