I watched a tutorial on how to import a Motion project into an AE project. Cool.

    Link here:
    https://www.seminars.apple.com/seminarsonline/motionae/apple/index1.html

(the importing is done starting at about the 15 minute point of the tutorial)

Only catch is that when I follow these directions I get an error in AE:
… cannot be imported – files of type “mofo” are not supported.

Obviously I can still render a quicktime .mov out of Motion and pull that in. That’s not the point–I want to integrate live projects.

Anyone have success when using the latest Motion with the latest AE?

You just need to add the .MOV extension to the Motion project files.

    .MOV or .MOTN?

    .MOV, again.

Motion’s Quicktime component is what allows other applications, like AE or the QT player itself, to import Motion project files as movies. When you rename or add the .MOV extension, they just take it as a a QT file.

I’m having problems doing this, does it matter what version of motion I have?

I keep getting errors by trying this, using AE CS3 and Motion 3 on Intel Mac. Any help? Changing the ext. to .mov just turns it into a QT file only. Apple says you can import a Motion Project, then Edit Original, then make changes in Motion that will be updated in AE.
