Please post system details and also report to apple. This sounds like a RAM issue to me or also could be something to do with the GFX card.

Try a custom install by only installing FCP. See if that is what is hanging the install.
RUn software update on the iMac and make sure that it’s up to date.
One License on four machines is a stretch.

Describe the signal path.
It sounds like the FW cable is going through the drive before getting to the camera.
Put them on seperate ports if you can.

YOu may have recorded your audio at 32K. FCP preset is defualted to 48K audio. Double check these settings and if nessesary create a custom setup to match the footage you ahve shot.

Create a custom sequence in final cut pro and make it the size of the banner. (apple KEY “0” (zero)) will do this.
When you drop the shot into the sequence you can arrange how you want it to fall into that timeline.

I have nticed this with streamclip as well. I believe that this has to do with I and P frames in an Mpeg 2 stream.
The only way this can really be avoided would be to capture the clips through a video card.

If you are installing on Leopard on some new machines it can take a VERY long time. WAlk away from it for a few hours if it freezes and make sure it’s frozen.
Otherwise, I think you can add it to the list of LEOPARD problems.
